Description
Maker: This beautiful pair of finely painted porcelain 6 1/4 inch bread and butter plates is by the renowned Japanese maker Nippon, precursor to the equally renowned Noritake.
Pattern
: Nippon is justifiably famous for its high quality and these plates are no exception: they are classically designed, rich in detail and superbly crafted, featuring beautifully painted pink roses within a raised gold, or moriage, garland.
Age
: The green wreath mark with M (for the Morimura brothers, who founded the company around 1876) on the base dates their production to between 1911 and 1921.
Condition
: Despite their age, the plates are in excellent condition with no chips, scratches, repairs, crazing, discoloration or wear. There is a tiny nick on the edge of one plate; it's shown in the photo with the penny.
Please check all the photos very carefully – they are an important part of the description.
